I’m often asked about the products and services I use and recommend, so I’ve decided to create this page with all the information in one place. I currently use or have used all of the resources on this page and I highly recommend all of them.
However, just to let you know, I do make money on some of the products I recommend.
This in no way affects my opinion of these products. If the product or service isn’t of excellent value and quality, you won’t even hear about it from me. Please note – you’ll pay the same purchase price for the product or program whether you purchase through my link or not
The Tutor Pages – An excellent UK based website containing advice for private tutors. Check out their blog post on important things to consider when starting a tutoring business
Tutora – This website allows students to find tutors, and vice versa. They’ve recently published an excellent guide on how to start a tutoring business Definitely check it out if you eager to get started as a tutor and want to learn some useful tips!
Web Design – I use WordPress for a number of different websites. It’s easy to use and incredibly powerful, so you can really create the layout you want. If you go down the WordPress route, you’ll need to choose a theme, one which looks professional, whilst offering you a lot of functionality.
For a premium theme, I highly recommend Elegant Themes.
Hosting – I use Hostgator for all my websites. They are very efficient to deal with which make things super easy for setting up your website. I use their Baby plan, which allows you to hose an unlimited number of websites with them. Prices start from $4.95 a month.
Newsletters / Emails – Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with your students and for attracting new pupils. I use GetResponse for all my email lists as they offer great support by phone, email or live chat.
Also, their sign up forms look great and you can easily insert them into your site. New customers have the option of a FREE 30 day trial.
Accounting – I use the online accounting software, Xero. It’s great at saving time on admin e.g. sending invoice, payment reminders etc.
Also, if you are a music teacher, check out Music Teacher’s Helper. This software can help you with invoicing, scheduling and many other useful features.
